Using the experimental method of research, 13 influential church leaders learned to write their own church mission and vision statements in a series of eight training sessions studying the nature and mission of the church, the church's gifts, and the church's community.  Participating leaders reclarified their church's biblical mission and established a specific direction for ministry by writing the statements in their own words. The overall goal was to strengthen marriages through marriage enrichment and to assist younger couples in strengthening their marriage through a mentoring process.  The teaching methods used during the sessions were lecture, group discussions, questionnaires, participant interaction, and take-home assignments.  Initially five couples attended the first session and four other couples joined the group beginning in session two.  A study of the written evaluations reveals that the goals were reached. Demonstrating an improved understanding of conflict, improving existing styles and skills of conflict management, and developing strategies that facilitate reconciliation were the goals of this project.  The project methodology included lectures, discussion, role plays, case studies, and questionnaires on conflict management. Examination of post-evaluation data indicates goals were reached.
