The author argues that in order for nurses to deliver comprehensive, holistic care of persons with cancer, nurse educators must modify their curricula and clinical training programs.  She urges educators to include a historical perspective of who nurses have been throughout the history of the Christian church, encourage spiritual self-exploration and training in their students, and reclaim the work of the forerunner of spiritual care in nursing, Florence Nightingale. The nature of God's communication is understood as personal and relational.  From a narrative theological base, imagination is the primary tool used to understand the Bible in general and the dream passages specifically.  There is a consideration of the influence dreams have had historically.  A pro-active research method is employed during two group meetings, where the participants are instructed to pray daily for each other and to keep a dream journal. From this position, churches need to become complex adaptive organizations able to function and thrive in 'chaos' so that they can transition to a postmodern environment.
