A survey was developed to score degree of incorporation and assess the effectiveness of various programs through which new members could become incorporated.  Results were crosstabulated by gender, age, and scored degree of incorporation.  Analysis was done by comparing the results of members who joined by profession of faith, transferred from other United Methodist congregations, transferred from other denominations, and associate/affiliate membership. Five group of people, including samples of vulnerable populations such as military veterans and prisoners, completed this inventory.  Two better-known spirituality instruments were included in the test battery for comparison with the new instrument.  Significant differences were found among the various demographic groups using the new spirituality inventory.  High correlations were also established between this new instrument and the two validated instruments.
