It drew on bodies of literature from Twelve Step traditions, addiction and shame, Object Relations Theory, and Roman Catholic pastoral tradition.  Results showed that the model/program was very helpful to participants. The program utilized Korean family values by reconstructing the ideology of filial piety.  It was implemented by the researcher,a Korean-American pastor, in a European-American congregation.  Volunteers learned about the needs of the frail elderly, namely, mental depression, physical disability, isolation and loneliness.
