The program assessed caregiver's stress reactions, gathered religious and spiritual resources, and used these resources for self-care. Participants' beliefs, reactions to trauma work, and use of religion and humanistic spirituality to cope were evaluated by pre- and post-tests and audio-taped recordings of the group sessions. Unique findings showed a need for more education and training to increase the awareness of stress reactions and the benefits of using religious and spiritual resources for self-care."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Boston University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["2d58bd09-76d0-4970-b257-d55229e0173e"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717057372094464,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:12:14.413Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:57:56Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:59:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a8a39502-bc9d-4697-8dfb-271dcdbe3001","accessControl_ssim":["1df6f00a-64e0-4963-b21e-1a87346e7fe9"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Using creative writing for spiritual growth: a workshop for evangelical women in religiously conservative Protestant churches"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:57:55Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:01:03Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["05c8295d-210f-4997-8711-c4de1a62d45b"],"hasLease_ssim":["ca66232c-8765-4933-9af0-8c5119c9d577"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Boston University"],"advisor_tesim":["Carrie Doehring"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Susan Weaver Ellis"],"publisher_tesim":["Boston University School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Women","Evangelicalism","Workshops (Adult education)","Patriarchy","Creative writing"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project's purpose is to help evangelical women in conservative Protestant communities of faith find their voice as women, a need supported by evangelical feminists. Traditional evangelical women exemplify how patriarchal paradigms prevent women from finding their voices. Pat Schneider's creative writing program was used in a spiritual growth workshop. The women participants described the difficulties of having a voice amidst both their church's patriarchal authority and their internal struggles with their role as women.
