Eschatology among these subjects is influenced more by societal and cultural factors than by the 'electronic church.' Church members' beliefs are unclear, even with regard to basic doctrine. Eschatology is driven by a human need for security in the life to come, the result of human sin. Most members associate 'priest' with Roman Catholicism and 'minister' with 'anyone in God's service,' but both words have a formal, ecclesiastical connotation for most members without reference to a common priestly ministry of every Christian. Even those members most deeply involved in ministry feel little personal identification with 'priesthood.' At the heart of the project were on-site focused interviews with seven staffs (one being a married couple), serving in three major Protestant denominations in varying geographic and socio-economic settings in the Northeast.  Although the data was insufficient to draw statistical conclusions, data suggested that these ministries can be effective in symbolic value, diversified gifts, and wider specializations.
