Even though the Bible does not directly address the question of the ancestor practices, the Scriptures do give guidance to the church of Jesus Christ in dealing with the problems associated with these rites.  The author exegetes passages in the Bible which are relevant to the subject of the ancestor practices and from his exegesis constructs a theology which speaks to major issues faced by Chinese Christians today. Using a four-level strategic plan which includes the sharing, recruiting, and training of church members by the formal and practical methods, the author presents the biblical, theological, historical, socio-cultural, religious and political backgrounds with special discussion on ancestor worship and the Three-Self church in addition to personal field experiences with both long- and short-term tentmakers. The method used includes observation-participation with formal and informal interviews.
