The project is a study of congregational approaches and strategies for ministry to inactives. The research portion of the project included a survey of large rural congregations regarding their approach to inactive members. A follow-up interview was conducted with pastors of selected congregations that participated in the survey. This research, along with the literature review, informed the recommendations for a comprehensive approach for Christian caregiving of inactives in a large, rural congregation. The project's hypothesis confront an uncertainty, namely that it is uncertain whether Redeemer's structure influences members to participate in the practice of discipleship. The project is accomplished first through bibliographic research into the biblical, theological, historical, and practical nature of this relationship, and then second through field research investigating this relationship at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Richmond, Virginia. The guidelines are intended to give direction to the pastors of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Peoria, Illinois, and also to assist other pastors. Since the pastors at Redeemer Lutheran Church currently use projection media for sermons, this project was intended to hone and clarify what they are already doing. Since many pastors seek to use projection to enhance their sermons, this project was designed to assist them in doing so. The primary component of this study was a series of 8 sermons preached by the researcher. The subjects in the study were tested for retention and comprehension of the sermon material as well as slide content. The study actually produced the opposite of what was expected, but on the basis of the acquired information, pastors were able to make adjustments to their usage and the research provided reasoned guidelines reflecting what was learned. Through interviews of congregational leaders and randomly selected members, the researcher assessed the pre-decision knowledge and attitude of the members concerning the topic. A presentation on the topic was then prepared and presented to the congregation. Following the decision, those members involved were questioned as to what factors contributed to their decision. Many churches see the need to focus energy on strengthening families.  Musical drama based on the life of Jesus has its roots in the liturgy.  The musical dramas presented at Zion Lutheran, Litchfield, Illinois, involved families and provided opportunities for their enrichment.  By developing and implementing a plan for musical drama to enrich families at Redeemer Lutheran, Springfield, Missouri, the author sought to strengthen these families, providing opportunities to build positive assets or building blocks into their lives.
