A series of twelve sermons and interaction with a focus group in the author's church formed the immediate context in which the project was carried out. Thesis: To turnaround, a dying church must: (1) experience a crisis situation; (2) permit district leaders to discern whether they qualify as a 'true remnant'; (3) Recommit to wholehearted devotion to God; and (4) refocus on becoming a Great Commission church. Method of study: The method of studying church redevelopment was to analyze the Wyandotte Alliance Church of Wyandotte, Michigan, an aging church that almost closed. Key elements are: the pastoral role, the link to the church, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the opening up to non-believers. Revival is defined and the need for it is considered from current literature and information gathered from a survey of 343 pastors in the city. revival in the Scripture is studied, concluding that the context and content of 2 Chr 7:14 is its core. ten characteristics of biblical revival are identified and traced through the Scripture and five counterparts in history. Once the marks of a healthy church are identified, the next objective is to look specifically at Lancaster County Bible Church and to understand God's specific purpose for this local church body.
