This project builds on the work of John Piper, which connects preaching to worship, understanding preaching as 'expository exultation.'  The project provides a biblical justification for this connection, establishes a set of hermeneutical values for building God-centered sermons, and describes a model for producing messages based on those values.  The project includes a summary of two surveys of preachers, and the author's interview with Piper. This is accomplished through a series of surveys that look at spiritual needs, feelings about worship, and suggestions from pastors.  An examination of the historical, sociological, and theological perspectives show that ours is an aging society and there are few resources and aids to meet the seniors' spiritual needs. The main proposition is that, because the key element in worship is response to God, and his revelation, and because preaching seeks to expound God's revelation for his people, the natural order is for preaching to come early in a worship service, to be followed by significant worship response time.  Evaluation was made of the current practice of preaching in worship in the congregation served by the project writer, and, by use of a survey in other churches in Canada. Principles were developed for integrating preaching and worship more effectively.
