To fulfill this purpose, this major project is focusing on how to preach expository preaching for the Korean church in the contemporary context. The author reviewed the preaching of Reverend HanHaum Oak, SeoTek Kim, and DongWon Lee through sermon books and internet broadcasting. Through this process, he pursued to develop more powerful and effective expository preaching in contemporary context of Korea. One of the key aspects to connect with these people is for leaders to move out of the boardroom (88% lead primarily as executive officers), and into the lives of the people they serve. Elders need to return to making shepherd leadership, and all that it entails, their primary model of elder leadership. After carefully defining a theology of expository preaching, this project utilized the gifts and abilities of seven evangelical pastors to each preach twice, and then critically evaluate and comment on the messages of the other six, over a six month time frame. It was primarily accomplished over the internet. A resource for Homiletics professors, this project contains a curriculum based upon an upper level graduate course entitled, Preaching biblical doctrine: lessons learned from Peter Martyr Vermigli. The project used case studies to plan CareFest, and surveys and interviews to measure congregants' community service involvement and the perceived impact of such ministry on the church and community; event recipients were also interviewed. Post-event data supports that CareFest achieved its aims.
