First, it will examine the reconstructionist view of history, followed by its eschatological position, emphasizing their 'Kingdom now' doctrine.  Thirdly, this course will examine their position concerning the nation of Israel, and its belief that Israel will no longer be involved in God's future plans. Fourth, some hermeneutical principles will be considered.  The fifth issue will deal with the influence of this movement upon the charismatic movement. People tend to support what they helped to create. The senior pastor chose a team of five laypersons to help design an eight-week course based around a manual/workbook. Included is a theological study based on the biblical model of shepherding.  It also contains the social change theory needed to assist the congregants to accept a lay-pastoral care paradigm. The purpose of this project was to see if it could be possible to rebuild the infra-structure of this old inner-city church by establishing a network of relational groups.  Key elements are: the pastoral role, the link to the church, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the opening up to non-believers. The geography, history, and ethnic makeup of South Africa, where Murray served, is reviewed.  His early life, education in Scotland and Holland, and return to South Africa are highlighted. Murray's four pastorates with the Dutch Reformed Church provide examples of his missionary fervor, particularly his establishment in Wellington of the Missionary Training Institute and Huguenot College.
