Using a combined approach that incorporated what was learned from a survey of pastors and what was learned from personal study, a three-month reading program was prepared. Four expository sermons were preached, utilizing what was gleaned from the reading program. Surveys were administered to six members of the researcher's parish after each preached sermon. The research proves Whitefield's doctrinal preaching content was a primary factor for why God used him so mightily in the Great Awakening era and beyond contrary to common misinterpretations for his success. A six-week preaching series presented the six principles to our church and included evaluative surveys analyzed in this project. This project sought to increase the effectiveness of teaching and preaching Hebrew narratives in the local church via a five week seminar to equip participants in discovering the central thrust of Old Testament narratives. Goals and objectives were established, relevant data gathered, analyzed from volunteers. An analysis of the data revealed notable improvements in the participants' overall effectiveness in teaching narrative. The Book of Esther was the focus of this study, and was analyzed and interpreted from the literary/rhetorical point of view. These seven words which start with the letter 'c' represent seven biblical elements of evangelism. This project produced lessons for a particular congregation so they could learn and practice personal evangelism according to these seven biblical elements of evangelism. This report explored the biblical foundations and the theological reflections of these seven biblical elements and formulated them into a ten-lesson course. A pre-teaching survey of the knowledge of the students about these elements and a similar post-teachng survey served as the guidelines for the course design as well as the basis for the evaluation of the teaching. The research included a survey of WELS pastor's interviews with pastors and homiletics professors, and a Delphi group of congregational members. Ten key issues for improving preaching were identified and will become the focus of twelve issues of the Preach the Word newsletter received by WELS pastors. This preaching series consisted of twelve sermons preached from February to May 2009.  The project began with a statement of need for a God-exalting series on the attributes of God.  Chapter 2 established the biblical and theological basis for the preaching series.  My purpose was not to expound every attribute of God in Scripture but to focus on several key attributes which are controversial: God's wrath and the doctrine of Hell, his sovereignty over all things, his knowledge of all things, and his immutability.  In chapter 3, I described five goals of this preaching series. In chapter 4, I concluded with an evaluation, combining qualitative and quantitative research methods, gleaned from congregation and focus group before, during, and after the twelve-week preaching series.  The feedback received proved invaluable in my understanding as a shepherd and pastor.  The findings were very encouraging.  The congregation grew in their understanding of God's character revealed in Scripture.  I was pleased by the ongoing transformation that took place in the focus group as they interacted weekly with the presentation of God's
