A change in understanding of lay ministry is necessary to overcome the inactivity or passivity of the laypersons. This project suggests a better understanding of ministry and church office, educational programs, and important implications that are necessary for the Korean Church to activate lay ministry. A task force was recruited to investigate methods of announcing the lordship of Christ by adopting the role of journalists for the church.  Its method and results were studied over a period of several months through participation in the group, frequent consultation with the minister of the church, detailed interviews with members of the church.  The written project offers a theological reflection on these activities. Suffering represents various subjective emotions reflecting absent validation for the pastors. Clergy question their meaningfulness as well as confront the violation of deeply-held expectations regarding their vocation and results of their labors. Clergy seek to improve their circumstances by turning to spiritual, social, emotional, and/or intellectual resources. Greater healing may result, though, as clergy become 'co-creators' of meaning with God. Clergy may eventually integrate the suffering for an enriched faith perspective and enhanced gifts for spiritual leadership. Using video observation and participant interviews, this study explores the impact of leadership, a formational method of Bible study, the interlacing power of stories, prayer, conversation, and silence, in order to determine the efficacy of this small group model. Research revealed: (1) conferring occurred minimally; (2) conferring in participant group study revitalized Conference; (3) conferring through committees altered Conference. However, facing the new millennium, the Korean churches need to be more matured and renewed for the growth in quality by the training of the congregation to be disciples of Jesus Christ. So, the main focus of this paper is to analyze John Wesley's theological background that made possible his reforming movement, and to investigate the way he developed this tool of renewal, namely, the class meeting. In light of this analysis, the author evaluates whether such a method is still feasible for the contemporary Korean churches today. Participants provided extensive data before and throughout the project in quantitative and narrative forms. All participants benefited from the interactions and felt nurtured in their faith, but each responded to the experience in individual ways. Narrative material proved more revealing than quantitative responses.
