After examining various forms of church community life, the author turns to Acts to discover a model that appeals to people in the postmodern context without abandoning the church's Pentecostal essence. He then defines the essence of Pentecostalism so non-essential traditions can be adjusted to enhance evangelism in the setting. This understanding of community is based on the righteousness of God and egalitarian relationships among the community evidenced by equitable distribution of needed goods and power within society. Taught by the prophets and Jesus, this jubilary principle inspired the apostolic church and groups in this country to build community.
