This paper considered how to form these strategies by comparing the attitudes of present-day Serbs toward money and the church with the experience of churches in North America in relationship to money and discipleship formation. Within the context of the priesthood-of-the-believer doctrine, this means that, as priests who share in the privileges of righteousness because of our relationship to Christ, Christians must incorporate the commensurate responsibilities for faithful living and service.  A local church educator should provide a Christian education plan that fosters faith maturity and is indigenous to resources, holistic in strategy, and balanced in scope. This project was designed and implemented to test the applicability of this method of lay involvement in ministry in a different context--the USA.  The results of this project obtained through questionnaire and personal interviews and supported by actual records demonstrated the applicability of this model in the USA. The author studied this integrated approach to spiritual formation through a case study methodology involving thirteen volunteers who spent eight weeks 'breathing in' through weekly sessions of prayer, Bible study, and reflection, and 'breathing out' through weekly trips to a homeless shelter. Data was collected through observations, questionnaires, interviews, and journals. The author found this thesis confirmed in every respect. He then defines the essence of Pentecostalism so non-essential traditions can be adjusted to enhance evangelism in the setting. This understanding of community is based on the righteousness of God and egalitarian relationships among the community evidenced by equitable distribution of needed goods and power within society. Believing that educational and experiential tools can enhance persons' learning and thereby assist in the changing of their attitudes and behaviors, eighteen volunteers were given a series of study materials and activities, and observed and interviewed to note the impact of this work on them.  As the volunteers studied the resource, They Walked in the Spirit through reading it and using a study guide in weekly group discussion, worked on questionnaires, completed homework assignments, and evaluated their experience, they noted that they were reminded of the essential nature of an integrated Christian life.
