Project"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Walton, Donald Heath"],"subject_tesim":["Baptist church","Evangelistic work"],"abstract_tesim":["In this doctoral project, I set out to equip selected members of First Baptist \r\nChurch in Talladega, Alabama, with biblical, theological, and practical training in \r\npersonal evangelism. I aimed to address the specific obstacles that keep many members from engaging in personal evangelism conversations and to encourage and prepare them to obey this God-given task. I gathered and analyzed internal data, which clearly showed a lack of evangelistic engagement within the church.\r\n\r\nI carried out the project in three phases: research, curriculum development, and equipping courses. During the research phase, I studied the Scriptures along with trusted extra-biblical sources, analyzed both external and internal data, and used pre- and postcourse surveys to assess the selected participants. In the curriculum development phase, I synthesized the information I gathered to create lessons that balanced sound doctrine with practical application. The project consisted of a five-week sermon series on sanctification. The evaluation measured effectiveness through pretests and posttests administered to selected church members. In addition, experts evaluated the theological content, structure, and delivery of the sermons using established rubrics and provided useful feedback. Selected church members also evaluated the sermon delivery using rubrics. Finally, weekly personal reflection and application of these evaluations served as an additional means of assessing the project’s success. I began the project by exploring internal demographics of Burra Baptist to discover trends in membership assimilation. I used the church roll book as a principal source for historical information and a survey for members who joined the church in the last ten years. I then explored existing models of church membership assimilation to determine best practices for Burra Baptist. I explored \r\nliterature in church assimilation and produced an annotated bibliography. I then created an executive summary of best practices. The next step of the project was to develop a church membership assimilation strategy for Burra Baptist. To do this, I recruited and trained a strategy planning team. We met for  four sessions to review the prepared information and then to create a new member assimilation strategy. The project took place in three different phases. First, I researched the field of church revitalization to determine what competencies are suitable in a multiethnic church setting. Second, using a team of experts in church revitalization, including LeRoy Ford’s book Design for Teaching and Training, I developed a workshop that provides an overview of various multiethnic church revitalization factors for the selected pastors. Third, I equipped the selected pastors with the multiethnic church revitalization workshop to increase their knowledge and understanding of multiethnic church revitalization. Finally, for the project completion, I encouraged the selected pastors to carry out the responsibility of revitalizing their churches, using the multiethnic church revitalization competencies. A total of twenty pastors attended the workshop, and the workshop lasted for about eight hours with six different sessions. The project director selected married couples of the church, and he equipped them with marriage mentoring skills. These couples became in turn potential coaches with the ability to train other couples living with marital issues. This ensures a granted path to the transmission of values, skills, and character qualities, focusing on a lifetime marriage.\r\n\r\nThe project director began to research the field of marriage mentoring and to identify essential skills. The result of this research drove him to design a workshop plan using the existing workshop models, comparing and analyzing them in order to reach the most effective training workshop in marriage mentoring. With the findings of his research, the project director completed the workshop by drafting and delivering a series of training sessions to equip the selected couples of First Haitian Baptist Church of Pompano Beach, Florida, with marriage mentoring skills.
