The first phase of the project begins with the research in the field of church revitalization to identify essential church revitalization skills and construct an annotated bibliography based upon the completed research. Using this research, I will determine essential church revitalization skills and write a report that details the results. An expert evaluator will then evaluate both the annotated bibliography and the essential revitalization skills report.\r\n\r\nThe second phase of the project involves developing workshops to equip selected leaders of First Baptist Church, Anchorage, Alaska, in essential church revitalization skills. I will research the curriculum writing process by completing a self-guided study. Using this research, I will create a curriculum on identified essential church revitalization skills. The project  was completed by meeting three project goals. The first goal was completed by researching the field of mentoring and identifying essential skills for mentor training. The second goal was accomplished by developing a curriculum designed to equip leaders of First Baptist Church De Soto, De Soto, Missouri, in mentoring skills. The third goal was accomplished by equipping selected leaders of First Baptist Church De Soto, De Soto, Missouri, in essential mentoring skills. Leaders were equipped through five sessions over a single-day workshop. Several evaluation metrics were utilized to ensure the project goals were met. Evaluation metrics, including expert evaluators, rubrics, pretests and posttests, and surveys, were used in the project. Two professional goals were also established. My project utilized the Preaching Skills Enhancement Model found in the DMin Handbook at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. The project was completed in three phases: research, writing, and preaching. During the first phase of the project, I researched biblical leadership concepts to identify best practices. The research phase produced an annotated bibliography of selected works in the field of leadership and an executive summary of selected biblical leadership concepts. Dr. Ray Van Neste evaluated both the annotated bibliography and the executive summary. During the second phase of the project, I developed a five-part sermon series to teach on God’s design for leadership. During the final phase, I preached the sermon series at Summertown Baptist Church, Summertown, Tennessee. Two expert preaching evaluators evaluated the sermon series. The people of God in the Old Testament kept God’s Word at the forefront of their minds and “taught God’s Word diligently” (Deut. 6:6-7). In the New Testament, the “people devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers” (Acts 2:42). The project determined the best practices for organizational growth and equipped Sunday school leaders with growth skills. Upon hiring the current senior pastor in 2009, the church began a substantial revitalization journey that continues to this day. One of the early steps was revising the church's bylaws, which nullified all previous policies and left the process for future policy development unclear. As a church grows numerically, developing the systems that support its growth becomes paramount. This project addressed one of those systems by proposing the establishment of a policy development strategy. The first part  of this project explored the field of church policies to determine the best process for policy development. The second part examined the current policies at Stetson Baptist Church to determine policy development needs. The third and final part established a policy development strategy for church council consideration. To accomplish this goal, I collected information about the membership and involvement level of new church members including LifeGroup attendance, DGroup attendance, involvement in serving, and a general survey of their familiarity with each of these as well as the church's core doctrinal beliefs. I selected three churches that assimilate new members well and researched their processes. I also created an annotated bibliography of relevant resources to guide this project. From the research, I identified and organized best practices. I also developed a strategic planning team to assist in discerning weaknesses in the church’s current process and needed improvements based on the research from other churches. The strategic planning team identified areas for improvement and created an assimilation strategy.
