Cultural principles of teaching, learning, and leading are drawn from ethnological studies of West African cultural teaching events, African philosophical definition of knowledge and wisdom, and cultural expectations of leadership.  The study provides seventeen biblically sound and culturally based principles for teaching, learning, and leading in an African training institute. It is mainly a description of how leaders are trained in a church established by the EFCA mission in the northwest corner of Zaire.  The last part of the study presents some suggestions to improve the teaching of theology to make it more contextual in content and methodology. Finally, it proposes specific curricula for both undergraduate and graduate levels of ministerial education. Field interviews and library research comprised the primary methodology.
