First, the biblical and historical context which impelled the Methodists to mission is surveyed.  Then a critical examination is made of the theology of missionary motivation of Wesley and some of his followers. Finally, the essential elements for the construction of a theology of missionary motivation are presented. In order to give an effective and successful missionary training to his students, he has been convinced that a short-term missions trip can be employed as an effective tool to meet his objective.  He has been involved in taking a group of his students twice and began to see their lives greatly changed. Signs and wonders have a place in demonstrating God's presence and possession of his people in total blessing and total demand.  Principles of the Kingdom of God form the basis of the study which points to the relevance of signs and wonders, especially healing, in the life of the church. Finally, it proposes specific curricula for both undergraduate and graduate levels of ministerial education. Field interviews and library research comprised the primary methodology.
