The author gathered information from four sources: the permanent deacons of this archdiocese; the priests with whom they minister; the local formation program; and the national office for the permanent diaconate in Washington, DC. The context is a Lutheran congregation in Brazil.  The project uses a method called participatory research to discover whether and to what extent the congregation and parents understand the educational role of parents.
