He studied resilence literature, conducted personal interviews with chaplains, and collected data/responses from an online survey. He learned that incorporating intentional self-care practices that nurture the body, mind, and spirit may reduce the risk of burnout and compassion fatigue, while lowering the impact of secondary traumatic stress. The shift has enhanced the ends of marriage to acknowledge and include the importance of partnership and community. This project explains a contemporary understanding of the sacrament of marriage. Additionally, it presents the John Gottman research-based marital therapy process. It demonstrates the strong correlations between a Roman Catholic theology of marriage and Gottman's Sound Marital House theory.
