By utilizing research and statistics, the writer sought to determine what the African American houses of worship are doing or not doing and what is needed going forward to help eradicate HIV/AIDS. What the writer discovered as a result of research, interviews, and workshops was that some of the clergy in the city and across the state of New Jersey were willing to start an HIV/AIDS ministry in their churches. The writer also documented the fact that there were those among the clergy willing to have someone come to their church once a quarter to speak on HIV/AIDS. Others were willing to put HIV/AIDS facts in their Sunday morning bulletins... Other pastors committed to providing pastoral care and counseling to those who were infected and affected. Some were willing to preach sermons on HIV/AIDS, place HIV/AIDS material in their houses of worship, and to have condom demonstration sessions set up for both males and females as part of the New Jersey Human Development Corporation's objective of education and prevention."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716708058923008,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:06:41.283Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:49:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:04:56Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d47595e7-cdc2-43c1-accc-3ecc1289b732","accessControl_ssim":["7f60123c-9a1d-4342-9dd3-84504fbab263"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The backwards prophet: a shift in the leadership paradigm to impact the health of the community in the 21st century"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:49:02Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:12:25Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["6c6c8b08-631e-4f6d-8cee-d66132689974"],"hasLease_ssim":["4fe242c2-91cd-40b8-90b8-4edbe68ac5b5"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Fred D Smith"],"year_tesim":["2012"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. An exploration is conducted of the leadership context as well as methods of preparing leaders capable of engaging in the transformation of self and community."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799721859816620032,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:28:34.382Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:58:50Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:11:20Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"f6c336e5-dd21-4c28-a173-31e3baf0c5f3","accessControl_ssim":["d627ee5a-869c-40df-a493-8fd3188fc87c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Health and wholeness: building spiritual health and physical well being of seniors in the Centennial-Caroline Street United Methodist Church and neighboring communities"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:58:49Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:10:51Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5d843d5e-2034-4cc2-9fd2-878538616f9b"],"hasLease_ssim":["2f0bc2a2-7661-485a-b58c-ad4bcbe94d5a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Fred D Smith"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The Bible, itself, reveals examples of familial problems between parent and child. Some modern authors have made suggestions of ways to better parent and child relationships. However, what about intergenerational barriers in the outer society, for example, in the church? Can one create a bridge between senior and youth members of a congregation through the use of storytelling or the sharing of life experiences and then using this connection as a venue in producing joint ministry experiences in a congregation? The purpose of this study is to answer these questions. This project is divided into four parts designed to bring the teenage and 50+ adult groups together with the final portion, also, serving as an evaluation opportunity. Storytelling has been used as a great educational device but, as the study reveals, it is also, a wonderful tool to resolve generational misunderstandings and produce ministerial partnerships within the family."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717035233509376,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:11:53.301Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
