This project asserts that when the differences are analyzed and understood and the lines of convergence are observed, the differences are of such minor importance in producing salvation and developing Christian character that preaching and teaching either of the opposing views as a doctrine needed in the Church should be avoided. The program is broken into three distict components: 1) preaching; 2) teaching; and 3) testing.  The project requires a complete month of active participation by the fellowship.  The report presents as well a foundation from which to approach spiritual gifts.  Fundamentally, the report expresses a broader definition of spiritual gifts so as to include all of God's gifts.  These gifts are expressed in terms of creation, humanity, salvation, and history.  In order to achieve the above, the report also includes a section that details a particular understanding of the gifts given in history. The project instructs worship leaders and congregations in the overall theology of baptism and how to express that theology through the design and implementation of a baptismal liturgy.  The project was implemented in two phases.  The first was an eight-week study of the institution, meanings, and practice of baptism. The second phase was to design and implement a baptismal liturgy that focused on the celebration of baptism as an act of worship. The sermon situation is defined as a spirit-intensive encounter between preacher and congregation, based on the doctrine of the Holy Spirit, as found in a Wesleyan Holiness denomination. The issue chosen was the threat of nuclear war and the nuclear arms race and the method of teaching was a pedagogical approach designed to enhance moral reasoning development. The hypothesis upon which the project was based is that there is a direct relationship between the adequacy of one's pre-hermeneutic and the adequacy of one's interpretation of biblical texts.  A course of study of the Gospel of Matthew was prepared and taught to members of a local congregation to test the validity of the hypothesis. Testing procedures were designed and administered to measure the results of the course and the degree of biblical literacy achieved. The project sought through television to focus on needs expressed by the audience, allowing the audience to make a direct response to the counselors on the program.  The report outlines a theological basis for the concept of using television as a means of ministry to people in need.  Methodology included a critique of television and the church's response, which included examples of programming. This field project sought to rectify this situation within a very limited population by studying the reality of oppression from a black theological perspective with the congregation served by the author. Introduction of black theology to a black congregation helped determine the impact of these concepts on black Christians and develop information that could be used to structure future lectures on black theology for black congregations.
