The project instructs worship leaders and congregations in the overall theology of baptism and how to express that theology through the design and implementation of a baptismal liturgy.  The project was implemented in two phases.  The first was an eight-week study of the institution, meanings, and practice of baptism. The second phase was to design and implement a baptismal liturgy that focused on the celebration of baptism as an act of worship. This field project sought to rectify this situation within a very limited population by studying the reality of oppression from a black theological perspective with the congregation served by the author. Introduction of black theology to a black congregation helped determine the impact of these concepts on black Christians and develop information that could be used to structure future lectures on black theology for black congregations.
