The project instructs worship leaders and congregations in the overall theology of baptism and how to express that theology through the design and implementation of a baptismal liturgy.  The project was implemented in two phases.  The first was an eight-week study of the institution, meanings, and practice of baptism. The second phase was to design and implement a baptismal liturgy that focused on the celebration of baptism as an act of worship. They frequently seem more concerned with the church's new appearance than how the building will aid in carrying out the mission and conducting the worship of their church.  The handbook is to be used to assist the congregation as it engages in dialogue about the mission of the church and the worship of their congregation.
