The project was implemented with fourteen current and future leaders of Calvary Baptist Church. The project director did biblical research on the missional commands of Christ and general research on the missional mindset. Lesson plans were formulated and project participants were led through seven equipping sessions. Evaluation of participants' progress toward the missional mindset goal was measured with a pretest and posttest assessment instrument and a report time held eight days after the equipping session during an evening worship service at Calvary Baptist Church. This group consisted of associate ministers, deacons, trustees, Minister of Education, Sunday school teachers, and youth directors. The project consisted of three phases. First, the project director researched the teachings of the prosperity gospel in order to equip the selected leaders to give a biblical response. Secondly, the director developed training curriculum from an annotated bibliography that was evaluated by Dr. Page Brooks, Assistant Professor of Theology and Islamic studies at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS). The strategy emerged from research that included interviews, extant literature, and observation of the Nation of Islam that uncovered those factors that contribute to black male aversion to church. The project concluded that the primary deterrent to black male church participation was the failure of the black church to develop and implement outreach strategies.
