These teams recover the rightful work of the laity and develop a continuous quality model of planning and implementing worship. Participants come to the training with an understanding that worship is not the sole domain of 'professionals' and depart with a desire to lead in reclaiming the 'work of the people.' The new 'United Methodist Hymnal: Book of United Methodist Worship' contains services or word and table that allow for the celebrant to create varieties in the prayer.  This project contains 26 eucharistic prayers based on the Common Lectionary rather than the season.  The project also examines the history of the prayer, Wesley's approach to the sacrament, and how the 1988 United Methodist liturgy developed. For many centuries the daily office played an important role in the spiritual life of Christians.  Through a long history of adornment and complications the office was taken away from the people, and nothing has been developed to take its place.  The possibilities for its renewal are evidenced by several successful experiments with the office in local churches.
