Christian unity and disunity are presented in an historical and developmental overview. Four current models of ecumenism are outlined in contrast to COCU's covenanting model.  A questionnaire was used to gauge grassroots awareness of COCU, concern for Christian unity, and openess to COCU's proposal.  Resulting data indicate a desire for Christian unity (with some latitude in its definition), little knowledge of COCU, and an audience receptive to COCU's work. A team of laity and clergy studied worship together.  They also surveyed their congregation regarding religious roots, beliefs and expectations about worship.  The team encouraged congregational participation in and response to liturgical renewal. They wrote collects and examined, tested and edited liturgies of the United Church of Christ and other Reformed communions. The new 'United Methodist Hymnal: Book of United Methodist Worship' contains services or word and table that allow for the celebrant to create varieties in the prayer.  This project contains 26 eucharistic prayers based on the Common Lectionary rather than the season.  The project also examines the history of the prayer, Wesley's approach to the sacrament, and how the 1988 United Methodist liturgy developed.
