The thesis is that interim ministry can be carried out effectively using spiritual guidance, rather than management, as the central organizing principle.  Methodology is to survey relevant literature, describe the social framework, explore family systems concepts of homeostasis, differentiation, and emotional triangles, form spirituality groups to explore spiritual guidance, and formulate conclusions. Methodology: A study of baptism includes ancient animist water rituals; biblical and theological covenant background; baptism among Jews and Christians; biblically, theological and psychological examanation of baptism; Reformed/Roman/COCU baptism liturgy; and member ministry. A video tape tool was produced for elders to use with baptismal candidates or parents of infants, and field-tested.  Results: A video instrument can be an effective tool for member ministry in a video-oriented society, developing theological awareness and cohesiveness among church members. A theological/historical rationale recommending the celebration of Epiphany was developed; preaching, worship and educational resources were project-generated.  Pre and post-project surveys demonstrated that clergy are more informed regarding the nature of Epiphany than about its historical development, liturgical celebration, and educational observance. This program includes a handbook to assist newly ordained ministers to cope with the political realities of church administration, with its attendant demands, promises, tensions, and rewards. The method was extensive reading in the theology of church administration, supported by interviews and case studies. This project determines the value of these principles by reviewing and summarizing some theologians, including those of the Wesleyan or Nazarene tradition, identifying and evaluating the contributing factors, and determining by a case study of local Nazarene churches the value of church growth and decline principles. Jung's concept of the archetype discloses the possibility of understanding literature and myth as creative forces that shape our spiritual and psychological development.  This dissertation investigates the three main versions of the legend of the Holy Grail, Perceval, Perlesvaus and the Queste del Saint Graal, for their archetypal descriptions of the Warrior (Perceval), Magician (Merlin), Lover (Lancelot) and King (Arthur).  Modern examples are also given for these four archetypes--George S. Patton, Vincent van Gogh, C.S. Lewis and Dag Hammerskjold--as paradigms for the expression and spiritual possibilities for modern men.
