A training module emphasized both the theoretical and practical development of planning and coordinating skills.  Elements of training included oral presentations, case studies, group discussions, and exercises in writing. The experimental method was used to collect research data.  A sermon series was used to define the nature and purpose of spiritual gifts for church leadership.  Twelve adult church members completed homework assignments and participated in small-group activities to identify their spiritual gifts and learn how to utilize their gifts in church leadership. Through historical research, a thesis was developed that direct mail and telemarketing were suitable methods for prospect identification.  A program was developed to involve church members in mailing letters and making telephone calls to new homeowners and residents who lived within two miles of the church. The author developed a curriculum for the Bible studies, surveyed the area for the best locations, trained leaders, registered the participants and began an eight-week program in individual homes.  Each week preceding the study, the author met with the leaders to present the next study and discuss the previous week's study.  At the end of the eighth weekly session, the ultimate goal was to continue the two Bible studies and establish one additional study in the Boutte area. The project director used an experimental method of research with an experimental and control group.  The director used eleven teaching sessions, eight doctrinal sermons, and a pre-test/post-test to accomplish the goal.
