The principal idea used was John Wesley's admonition to 'earn all you can, save all you can, and give all you can.' This method can be applied to finances and all aspects of discipleship. The author used a four-week Bible study to examine this holistic method of stewardship. Present practice is not consistent with historical Christianity nor with Wesleyan Methodism.  To be actively involved in the healing of the broken body of Christ this part of their heritage must be understood and reclaimed. Meeting with a reflection group, representative of the congregation, Methodist eucharistic heritage, ecumenical and liturgical renewal, and local customs were studied. The church year provided the vehicle through which themes of the eucharist were celebrated.  Taped interviews with the congregation following each service helped assess progress.
