The answer is a resounding yes. This project includes two parts. The first part is a case study of a new pastor and an older congregation working together with the Holy Spirit to turn around a fifty year decline in attendance. United Methodism features governance derived from sources in John Wesley's eighteenth-century reform movement. It is shaped by subsequent attempts to define the denomination in the context of American culture. Two significant schisms, O'Kelly Republican Methodism in 1792 and Methodist Protestantism in 1828, represent these challenges to Wesley's construct. The principal idea used was John Wesley's admonition to 'earn all you can, save all you can, and give all you can.' This method can be applied to finances and all aspects of discipleship. The author used a four-week Bible study to examine this holistic method of stewardship.
