It looks at theologians and artists influenced by Paul Tillich.  It provides a case study of Matisse, Coburn and Rothko's chapel paintings.  The second part of the dissertation project is a creative project that includes the painting of seven major works that were hung in a Protestant worship space. Religion has been used by some modern Australian poets and this use is discussed.  Some theopoetic views of Australian and United States writers are given.  Poems by the Australian poets Judith Wright, Alec Derwent Hope, James Phillip McAuley, Gwen Harwood, Bruce Dawe and Les Murray are analysed.
