The author argues that the Islamic community has suffered fragmentation as a result of this artifical divide.  The author contends that really understanding the concept of tawheed is the true answer -- the bridge as it were -- to overcoming  this artifical divide.  He decided to work with young people who were not as tainted as their parents. The author utilized cognitive restructuring as the theoretical construct. It is as if we live together yet inhabit different worlds. This project enlargeds the possibility of discourse between people quite different from one another in interest, theological outlook, power and age -- yet united in the exploration of narrative connections.
