The project director designed this project utilizing the equipping model. The project began with research in the field of servant leadership, particularly focusing on servant leadership competencies as they apply in the local church context. Then, the project director identified particular competencies critical to servant leadership. The competencies and theories of servant leadership, as well as the biblical foundation of leadership as applied within the local church, were then taught to the selected men. The instruction included seven sessions that utilized a variety of teaching methods to equip the men in servant leadership competencies. The project director developed the Spiritual Mentor Workshop to train people to mentor others in discipling relationships.  Research yielded valuable information in the fields of mentoring, discipleship, and curriculum design to accomplish this goal.  The workshop was a seven-week training event that equipped twelve people, six men and six women, to be spiritual mentors.  The project director used various evaluative measures, including assistance from academic expert Dr. Jerry Pounds and educational expert Carol Passmore, to analyze the project.  The workshop launched spiritual mentoring as a disciple-making strategy at His Church in Pineville. The project director developed a training curriculum. He enlisted recruitment team members, know as 'connection coaches,' for six training sessions. The connection coaches learned about spiritual gifts, personality temperments, natural abilities, and best practices for helping members become involved in ministry. After the training, connection coaches accepted an assignment to contact a specific new member. He or she facilitated that new member's enlistment into a ministry position. Objective evaluators in the fields of curriculum development and lay ministry recruitment evaluated the project director's growth. Training included five instructional sessions in five successive weeks with assignments weekly geared to the personal application of session content.  The first two training sessions explored the elements of basic church greeting ministry and the expansion of greeting ministry responsibilities as presented in current church growth literature.  The third session examined the challenges of church greeting ministry as it is directed towards the incoming contemporary generations.  In the fourth session, themes were explored to prepare participants to share with church guests an expanded knowledge of Beth-el Baptist Church.
