The project director researched the field of mentoring, identified the best practices, and developed a six-session workshop to train the selected men. First, the project director studied contemporary books by known church growth experts such as Thom Rainer, George Barna, Ken Hemphill, and Elmer Towns and books written by a leadership expert, John Maxwell.  Second, the project director interviewed church leaders who have helped churches transition from a plateaued church to a growing, vibrant community of believers.  Third, the project director studied the demographics of the Harbins community and the statistical data of the Ebenezer Baptist Church to compare the growth of the two entities to discover the effectiveness of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. After the research was completed, the project director developed a workshop for key leaders of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Dacula, Georgia. The project participants gained a better understanding of the separation of church and state.
