The author developed a four-part training manual that provides a general orientation to family systems thinking for group leaders, with a specific focus on self-differentiation, homeostasis or balance, and emotional triangles.  All leaders indicated improved ability to work with groups and in other settings as self-differentiated persons, though some wanted to understand the concepts more completely. To attain this goal, the project looks at the doctrine of church and ministry, as understood by the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and applies it to systems theory.
