The author accomplished this in telling the sustained stories of twelve saints and inviting spiritual practices each day for twelve weeks. In the case studies in three United Methodist congregations, participants engaged the material and answered questions before and after the study. Such worship should take account of the way people develop morally and spiritually.  The models of Lawrence Kohlberg in moral development and of James Fowler in faith development are examined and related to current concepts in Christian worship and social ethics.  Five worship services and sermons were used to test developmental strategies on social-ethical themes.
