The pastor met with fifteen parishioners during the season of Lent in order to prepare liturgies for the Second Sunday in Easter, Ascension Sunday, and Pentecost Sunday.  The study discusses what worked and what did not work and then proposes a new model.  What began as a study of lay participation in liturgy planning, ended up with some useful insights into the role of the pastor in the congregation.  A number of issues relating to pastoral function and identity as well as the priesthood of believers are raised in the final chapter. Such worship should take account of the way people develop morally and spiritually.  The models of Lawrence Kohlberg in moral development and of James Fowler in faith development are examined and related to current concepts in Christian worship and social ethics.  Five worship services and sermons were used to test developmental strategies on social-ethical themes.
