Spiritual formation requires both an intentional environment and a place in the seminary curriculum.  The methodology entailed creating a dialogue between the seminarians' experiences in the seminary community, the Christian tradition, and a cultural resource, self psychology, to propose a concrete pastoral action. Major literature on theological education and field education was reviewed and questions were raised regarding the seminary's mission statement, goals, and curriculum.
