The instrument is to honor the diversity that will be present in any group of pastoral counseling students in such a way that the students are able to explore their own personal perspectives on theology and psychology without experiencing a need to conform to the perspectives held by others.  The students then will be helped to form an understanding of the integration of their psychological and theological perspectives. In part one early theories of criminality are investigated, while in part two more contemporary studies are researched.  Part three is a historical overview of the sacrament of reconciliation. Dialogical counseling and guided meditation are its major methodological divisions.  The meditation component leads the client's psyche into a Christian religious state by following the intensified faithing schema.  The schema is comprised of archetypal imagery and Christian belief statements which activate the client's affectively charged cognitive faithing structures. Creative growth symbols and crisis intervention procedures restructure preconscious negative mental-emotional-spiritual concepts which then tend to become behaviorally concrete.  The thesis is: Faithing is the psyche's primary operation. The written project discusses the rationale and the practical aspects of the experimental class meetings, including the development of spiritual disciplines. Appropriate training in this dimension of ministry will help them to relate better to parishioners on a variety of levels, to mainain objectivity as counselors and to avoid pitfalls in their counseling ministry.  One forum where pastoral counselng can be very helpful is the Roman Catholic Catechumenate, reinstituted by the Second Vatican Council. This present study describes the manner in which such a program was designed and executed in a local parish.
