The author accomplished this in telling the sustained stories of twelve saints and inviting spiritual practices each day for twelve weeks. In the case studies in three United Methodist congregations, participants engaged the material and answered questions before and after the study. He surveyed the Corps of Army Chaplains using both printed and web-based forms, exploring motivational factors and attitudes impacting on the notion of vocation or call to ministry.  The results revealed a significant consistency in motivations and attitudes concerning service as chaplains and ministers. Method of research: program evaluation of an existing spiritual formation model whose end goal is discovery of spiritual gifts to 'serve the world.' A questionnaire, primary documents of the model, information-rich case studies and being a participant observer, were the means of gathering and interpreting data. Conclusion: Overall lasting aspects of this model contribute to individual spiritual growth including conscious raising, education and validation of existing discipleship.
