This research was an evaluative study that focused on shared vision for a multicultural, interdenominational, and diverse congregation that transformed a dream into reality, and vision into victory. The findings gathered from this qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory study served as effective working tools for new church development. However, after many distortions occurred which changed Luther's joyous privilege into a legalistic doctrine, it was eventually ignored. The author used Luther's concepts of the priesthood of all believers to attempt to revitalize the ministry of a downtown congregation. She researched the understanding of adoption from a biblical, theological and family spirituality perspective.  She conducted interviews with families, and provided liturgical resources as well as a small group study for a church setting so that the church can provide more complete support of adoptive families. The first is how does a post feminist preacher bridge the divide between evangelical traditional theology and social activism? The second is how can she persevere in pastoral ministry for the long haul? As she worked through her own story she discovered that preaching was a significant means for expressing the duality of her theology.
