The author researched biblical models of leadership transition and interviewed clergy for their input in creating this tool. A draft of this transition tool was used by two congregations during their respective transitions in clergy leadership. The second ministry tool is a resource list that is available through the Virginia Annual Conference Mid-Sized Task Force. Fewer givers gave more: annual per capita giving increased 25%.  Responses to 3,034 congregational surveys indicated positive correlation between increased generosity and stewardship leadership, spiritual nurture, social justice involvement, and stewardship best practices.  Congregations where givers and revenue increased, with individual annual giving over {dollar}1,000, more often engaged all of these strategies.  Congregations with decreasing revenue were least likely to use any of them. As suspected, the study revealed an uneven, and sometimes absent, awareness of the spiritual nature of the PNC's work. The resulting project seeks to enhance the spiritual context of the pastor search task by providing suggestions for guiding search committees in a more spiritually-aware process. Five churches were chosen, pastors of these churches became a part of a study group, mentors were assigned to each church, mentors became a part of a district vitalization team. How would the physical move of the church change the congregation's character? Could the church re-brand its identity to reach the new community based on their expressed needs? The author explored and evaluated a diverse sample of theological schools to help assess current training and to give clues for an improved model of spiritual leadership education for the ministry. The goal of ministry in the modified congregational context is to keep the congregation operating within the context of the Mosaic covenant community.
