Exploring Luther's thought on `the calls' critiquing the modern ecumenical dialogues on the role of the laity and surveying periodical literature since 1979 for motivational directions provided background.  A five-part congregational-based educational series was designed to present Bible, doctrine, Luther's writings and ecumenical dialogues to stimulate a desire to live the faith. The case of Dietrich Bonhoeffer is then presented as a situation that has evangelistic emphases apart from church growth and marketing.
