This project/thesis tested the hypothesis that ministering in an environment of religious pluralism causes the minister's theology to become more inclusive.  Four theological models for understanding religious pluralism were developed.  The models were then used with both a reflection group and a survey to test the hypothesis in the context of the Navy Chaplain Corps.  The data suggests that the hypothesis is often true. To fulfill its call, the local congregation must be intentional about its ministry.  The church must become a center for developing servant and caring discipleship.  By expecting people to care, challenging them to care, and providing opportunities to care, the local congregation can help persons grow in faith and become a powerful witness for Jesus Christ.
