The object of the project was to meet the course objectives being achieved in face-to-face instruction. The course was taught in the fall of 2001. Student achievement of the objectives was measured through course assignments, as well as a pre- and post-test of student confidence and competence for youth ministry. Students in the online version of the course achieved the course objectives but exhibited a higher non-completion rate. Research explored population statistics, theological foundations, and care giving issues.  A protocol was created for congregational interviews to guide the interaction and provide useful information for effective partnerships to grow.  These interviews brought to the surface both issues in senior care ministry and the desire for partnership efforts potentially to ensue. It is hoped that God may use this major project to provide the necessary framework for transforming youth ministry models in dealing with volunteers.  Chapter 1 introduces the goals, objectives, and limitations of the project.  Chapter 3 addresses the historical background and significance of the project.  Chapter 4 narrates the development, methodology, and procedures used to achieve the goals and objectives.  Chapter 5 gives recommendations which were found as a result of the research.  This chapter lists specific ways to retain and dismiss volunteers. This idea of giving back what already belongs to God redefines the twentieth-century concept of ownership.  Christians are stewards of all God has given.  With a historical perspective on fund raising, both from the church and parachurch organizations, the project develops a practical and appropriate plan for raising money into the twenty-first century. Secondly, a ministries notebook was developed to aid potential volunteers in discovering available ministry positions.  A procedure was implemented for the use of both tools. Four goals were established.  First, to identify the human resource available. Second, to accumulate that data in a computer file.  Third, to provide for the use and management of the human resource data bank.  Fourth, to utilize that data bank to improve the quantitative and qualitative involvement of the laity. This simply means that Bridgers learn visually, are drawn to experiences and desire meaningful relationships. They are also extremely tolerant of others. The research discloses that in addition to traditional youth ministry, successful ministry to Bridgers will also include communication that is full of imagery, rich relationships, authentic experiences and an understanding of tolerance. Often those of us who find ourselves in these situations look for a pre-packaged program that will simply plug into the current church. The research discloses that pre-packaged programs have a fatal flaw in that they are not transculturally friendly. It also discloses that it is better to develop a program based on the specific culture in which the church is located.
