Urban dwellers often face unique, challenging circumstances that require wisdom. The Book of Proverbs, often challenging to preach, is a rich source of God's wisdom, especially when understood in the context of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Examples abound in the Old Testament where God's people and messengers are exhorted to declare tot he nations with joyful song and testimony what the Lord God Almighty has done. In the New Testament, the angels who brought the Good News to the shepherds, the Lord Jesus Christ himself and the apostles furnish practical illustrations of joyful exuberance in proclaiming the gospel. But there seems to be a dearth of recipients and custodians of the Good News who are eager to go out and share the gospel with joyful passion powered by the joy of the Lord. This project embarked on recruiting and motivationally training believers from churches in USA to become confident and joyful participant sharers of the Good News. A devotional book was written to provide biblical reflections and an opportunity for personal prayer regarding specific stresses in the Jos context. Biblical forms of prayers are useful for praying with persons 'in Christ' and persons 'outside of Christ' when they are in physical decline and dying. The research methodology included interviews, observation, and participation. Thirty-nine residents living in Covenant Village of Northbrook, a Christian continuous care not-for-profit retirement community, were interviewed. Residents reveal strong desire to be praying and receiving Christian prayer in physical decline and death. The issues are 'when does life begin?', 'reproductive technology', 'facing end of life issues', and 'same sex relationships and the church.' The result of 102 pastors surveyed were tabulated using a Likert and percentage scale format. Graphs were used to demonstrate the pastors' responses in contrast with evangelical bioethical literature. The preaching ministry is gifted by Jesus to accomplish three main goals: 1) works of service, 2) unity in the faith, and 3) knowledge of the Son of God (Eph 4:11-13).
