Through the administration of a questionnaire, a survey of the literature, meetings with members of the hospital staff and volunteers who interviewed patients, nine issues of concern surfaced and were acted upon by the pastoral care staff. The context of the project was a three week clinical course in hospital ministry based on the pastoral counseling theories of Adams, Hiltner, and Clinebell and Carl Rogers' ideas.  The results from the project revealed a bell-shaped pattern of change.
